Distance from Beijing to Singapore
π¨π³ Beijing, China β πΈπ¬ Singapore, Singapore
The dashed line joins the two city centres; the true shortest path on the globe is a great-circle arc, and real flight paths also bend around restricted airspace and follow airways.
Route
The flight runs from northern China to the equator. Heading slightly west of south from Beijing, the great-circle path passes over Henan, Hubei, Hunan and Guangxi, leaves the mainland near the Gulf of Tonkin and Hainan, follows the South China Sea off Vietnam and crosses the Mekong Delta region near Ho Chi Minh City before reaching Singapore. Nonstop flights link Beijing Capital (PEK) and Daxing (PKX) with Changi (SIN), and many travellers also connect via Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Hong Kong.
Partners in development
China and Singapore established diplomatic relations in 1990, but the economic ties go further back. In the late 1970s Singapore's model of state-led development drew close attention from Chinese planners. The two governments then built flagship joint projects: the China–Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park (1994), the Tianjin Eco-City near Beijing (2008) and the Chongqing Connectivity Initiative (2015). Singapore has for years been one of the largest sources of foreign investment in China.
About three-quarters of Singapore's residents are ethnic Chinese, many descended from migrants from Fujian and Guangdong. Mandarin is one of the city-state's four official languages.
